Friday 3rd November saw the British Association of Removers (BAR) launch Young Movers – an organised gathering of individuals in the removals industry under age 35. The aim of the group is to create a network who can share experiences and hopefully create lasting business relationships.
The event has run in previous years, but after a break it was time for the relaunch and what better way to set the bar (pun intended) than with a two-day event packed with varied content and plenty of networking and socialising thrown in. 40 delegates from removal companies across the UK and Ireland met in Birmingham.
As part of the event, the group attended our very own Squab Hall, where there was a full day of activity planned, including a series of business sessions led by industry experts and a tour of the facilities. The sessions covered topics from social media and driver wellbeing to training and technology, including a session by Squab Director, Emlyn Evans, on his experiences of the industry. (All the presentations are available to view on the BAR website.)
Following the presentations, the group was given a tour of Squab including the self-storage facilities, shredding warehouse and BAR accredited training facilities which we’re pleased to say was highly rated!
After a successful first day, it was back on the coach to head back to Birmingham for an evening of socialising.
Squab Surveyor, James Bolitho, attended the event – here are his thoughts:
It was a great weekend meeting lots of new people and catching up with familiar faces. It was an honour to have everyone at our depo to show them our site and how we operate. Overall, an informative and enjoyable weekend. Looking forward to the next one!
Thank you to the BAR for organising a great event.
