On Friday 17th November, the team at Squab Hall took part in a variety of activities in support of BBC Children in Need, a charity which has been raising funds for disadvantaged children and young people in the UK since 1980. The day involved colleagues from Squab and sister companies Box-it Central and Squab Hall Farm – a real team effort!
The Big Breakfast
The day began with brothers and fellow directors, Emlyn and Les starting up the BBQ at 7am – who says you can’t have a BBQ on a chilly November morning?! The operations teams were first in line for their bacon sandwiches which went down a treat, fuelling (and warming up) them up for the busy day ahead. There was also the delicious alternative of homemade granola with yoghurt and blueberries.
With the operations teams on their way to jobs shortly after, the office staff started to arrive – and so round two of breakfast began. There was a minimum donation of £2 per person, although everyone was extremely generous and well over £100 was raised from breakfast alone!
At 1pm BBC Children in Need hosted a duck race on the Facebook page. Team members had chosen their duck in advance and made a donation of £2. Staff in the office crowded round screens to watch the race unfold. It was very amusing to see rubber ducks in their fancy attire hurtling down a water slide.
And the winner was…
Golden Duck! The winning duck had been chosen by Julie from the customer service team who was presented with her prize of a ‘Love2Shop’ voucher supplied by Squab. The race raised more than £60.
Wearing something Pudsey-related
Activities aside, the team got in the Pudsey-spirit with ears, yellow and polka dots left, right and centre. A good effort all round!
Raising money for an excellent cause
What a great day! We’re pleased to announce we raised a total of £207, which was then kindly added to by management, bringing the grand total to £300.
Well done to all!
