Introducing a new(ish!) member to the Squab team. Meet Sam Bewick, who joined the removals team as a porter in April (it’s about time we formally introduced him!) Sam’s role is all about getting stuck in on removal jobs – no job too big or small.
What attracted Sam to the role?
“I like to be active, meeting new people and talking to customers, it’s something I’ve never done before and everyday is different. Plus, the tea and biscuits!”
Sam’s main responsibilities include:
- Building relationships with customers.
- Ensuring the safety/protection of customer’s items/furniture throughout the move.
- Working together as a team to move heavy/awkward items on/off Squab vehicles.
- Encouraging team morale and safety.
- Aiding the driver in reversing/moving around narrow streets, cars, posts, etc.
Prior to joining us, Sam had worked in a number of different roles including bar work, washing aeroplanes, hotel porter and sales at the NEC. Great variety!
How is Sam finding the role so far?
“I love it! Everyday is a great laugh. I work with a really great people, in terms of their experience but also in person. I like how we all ‘chip in’ as a team if we need help (with the wider team too). Nights out are always fun too. I really like that everyday is different. Even tough days make you feel good that you completed the job. Of all the places I have worked, I really feel that the managers are amazing too!”
In his spare time, Sam enjoys playing the guitar, socialising, going to the gym and cooking.
Finally, we asked Sam to tell us a random/interesting fact about himself.
“I represented the West Midlands in gymnastics.” Impressive!
Wishing Sam all the best in his role!
