Squab highlights: What a year 2016 has been!

2016, you have flown by! As we approach 2017, we thought we’d take this opportunity to share some of our highlights from the year.

But first, we’ like to say THANK YOU to all our customers – whether you’ve moved with us, stored with us, hired our vans, used our conference facilities, sorted your shredding or a combination of these, we appreciate your custom and look forward to working with you in 2017!

Onto some highlights:

Being named Domestic Mover of the Year Finalists

We were over the moon to find out we’d been named as a Domestic Mover of the Year finalists, even more so given that it was the first year we’d entered! This is a prestigious industry competition run by the BAR (British Association of Removers). Our award takes pride place in the office and you’ll see the badge on our website. Let’s see what next year brings.

A growing fleet

We welcomed a new 7.5T lorry to the fleet which received a makeover – or a better description – it was ‘Squabbed’! We also welcomed a new trailer which received the same treatment. We know – this highlight perhaps doesn’t seem exciting but we invest heavily in our fleet to have the best possible vehicles for all our moves! These two additions are getting on great.

A new warehouse

The site has been developing and part of this has included the build of a new warehouse which is being used for a range of purposes. Sound mysterious? You’ll just have to come down and take a look at what its become! Let’s just say it’s come a long way since the time lapse footage was captured.

Passing our annual quality standards audit with no conformities

The audit, carried out by the QSS (Quality Service Standards Ltd.), involved a range of assessments. To pass with NO CONFORMITIES was a big achievement (and shows we know our stuff!)

New faces of Squab

We welcomed new team members – including Becca (Business Development Executive), Sam (Removals Porter) and Carl (Site Operative). This list isn’t exhaustive! It’s been great welcoming lots of new faces. Bring on 2017 when we’re sure the team will grow even more.

Joining the Tick Box Scheme

We’re pleased to have joined forces with Warwickshire Trading Standards to show our commitment against illegal goods entering our storage facilities. ‘Keep it real’ is our approach.

Getting involved in the community

Community is very important to us and we’ve enjoyed getting involved with our community throughout the year. From sponsoring a local pool team, to helping Falconers Hill Infant School with their storage dilemma and supporting the Daventry Air Cadets.

We also launched 90 Goodwill Gestures – an initiative where we pledge to carry out 90 goodwill gestures that make a difference to those around us – however big or small. Why 90? To mark the year of the Queen’s 90th. The initiative continues into next year, and we’re certainly proud of what we’ve achieved so far, including collecting for the Leamington Night Shelter. Take a look at our latest update.

Extending our self-store opening hours

That’s right! We extended our self-storage opening hours so we are now open 8am-8pm, 7 days a week.

Our hashtag has been busy this year! If you search #SavedbySquab on Twitter you’ll see everything we’ve been up to. Been #SavedbySquab in 2016? We’d love to see your pictures! Whether you’ve moved house with us, or spotted Squab out and about. We’ll leave you with a selection of some of our favourites.

Well, it’s fair to say it’s been a busy year at Squab – bring on 2017!

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from everyone at Squab.
